John Alala

John Alala, 84, affectionately known as Bubba by his family and friends and anyone he came in contact with, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 21, 2024. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church, 3600 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro, with Rev. Tony VanCura officiating. A reception will follow at the church immediately following the memorial service. He will be laid to rest at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro.

John was born July 11, 1939, in Greensboro, NC, son of the late Joseph and Waheda Alala and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He loved the Lord and his family, friends and fellow church members. Bubba was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Miller Alala; brothers, Joseph Basil Alala, Eddie Alala; sisters, Margaret Alala and Mary Alala Dixon. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Mike Alala and his wife, Jeanne; Matt Alala and his wife, Cindy and his beloved grandchildren, Maitland and Meredith Alala; brother, George Alala and his wife, Marsha and sister, Madeline Alala Lineberry and her husband Tommy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
