Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, in Greensboro. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Greensboro on August 30, 1956, to the late Hubert and Flonnie Riley, Jerry was of the Baptist faith. He retired from the Greensboro News & Record as a manager. Jerry was an all-around sportsman. He had a passion for hockey, both ice and roller, but also loved watching the Panthers play football, NASCAR races, and he was a huge Tarheel fan. Jerry took great pride in the upkeep of his yard and pool. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Elva “E.J.” Riley, of the home. Jerry and E.J. would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary today, June 4th. He is also survived by two sons, Jason Riley of New Hampshire and Justin Riley and his fiancée Lindsay of New Jersey; special daughter, Crystal Faulkner of Greensboro; sister, Kay R. Berkeley and her husband Bill of Gibsonville; and two grandchildren, Peyton Jean Riley and Hunter James Riley, both of New Jersey.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the funeral home.
