Jerry was born on May 28, 1943 in Greensboro, the son of Elcho W. and Mary Ann Eaton Oliver. He served his country in during the Vietnam conflict in the US Army.
Following his military service, he worked in sales of copiers and printers. During his working career, he worked with the Cooper D. Case Company, Paul B. Williams, IKON Company and retired from the Systel Company as Sales Manager. Jerry was a member of the HInshaw United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
When he retired, Jerry was able to pursue his passion for cars “full time.” He grew up around Oliver Garage working with his father on cars. That garage became his place to continue his hobby. His pride and joy was his award winning 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix. His love his family and always enjoyed spending time with them. He will be deeply missed.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda Newman Oliver of the home; son Terry “T.O.” Oliver of Apex, NC and grandson, Drew Oliver, also of Apex. NC
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. at the Hinshaw United Methodist Church followed with burial with full military honors at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
