Jean Stogner was born May 3, 1928 in Trenton, SC. Mrs. Stogner is the wife of the late Charles Howard Stogner. She is the daughter of the late Walter William Wise Sr. & Burda Long Wise. She is pre deceased by her infant sister, Mary Callie Wise, her brother Walter W. Wise, Jr. and sister Myra Long Wise Smith. She is survived by her sister Ann Wills Wise Herlong and her two sons William Howard Stogner of Pleasant Garden and his wife Candace, Marcus Albert Stogner of High Point and his wife Samantha. Step daughter Marcie Stogner Emerson and her husband Bill, Step Son John Phillip Stogner and various nieces and nephews.
Jean is the granddaughter of the founder of Trenton, SC, James Monroe Wise and his wife Callie Mays Wise.
She graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, where she became a teacher. She is a longtime member of Starmount Presbyterian Church of Greensboro. She was a member of Sedgefield Country Club and the Sedgefield Garden Club. She served her community through the Starmount caring plan committee and attended Bible study fellowship for many years. Jean worked for Guilford County Planning and Development Department for 17 years and as a part-time receptionist weekends at The Presbyterian Home of High Point.
Visitation and reception will be held at Starmount Presbyterian Church in Greensboro on Tuesday, November 1st, 2016 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at 2:00 pm at Starmount Presbyterian Church, 3501 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27403. The Pastor Kathryn Campbell officiating. Donations to Starmount Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers in honor of Jean Stogner appreciated.
