Janet Marie Whittemore Thrower

Janet is survived by her son Larry Thrower and wife Norma of Bryce, UT, son Gary Thrower and wife Pennie of Gastonia, NC; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Thrower of Cummings, GA; grandsons, Charlie Thrower and Stephen Thrower II, and granddaughter Kate Thrower; and many “honorary grandchildren” she cared for who still call her “Granny Thrower”.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Eugene Thrower; son Stephen Thrower; parents James and Annie Whittemore; brother Robert and Harold Whittemore and sister, Helen Stubblefield.

A lifelong resident of Greensboro, Janet was born on January 17, 1931. Previous to residing at Greenhaven, she lived at Aldersgate Apartments where she enjoyed evenings on the swing with her friends, making blankets for Project Linus, and working on other community service projects. She was a lifelong member of Christ Wesleyan Church on South Holden Road. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1949.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Christ Wesleyan Church, 2400 South Holden Road on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Jonathan Lewis officiating. Burial will take place at Guilford Memorial Park.
