Born on February 15, 1933 in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Jacob Ray and Carol Smith Ray. Janet was raised by her aunt and uncle, Julian and Nell Ray from the age of 6. During her life she loved working for Holiday Tours as a tour guild and after retiring from the City of Greensboro, she would often take trips on Holiday Tours. Janet was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.
Janet is survived by a daughter, Marsha Rumley; cousin, Jerry R. Ray; and numerous friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Lakeview Memorial Park with Pastor David Surrett officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 11 am.
