The funeral service will be held Sunday, 3:30 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel. Steve Pope will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens with full military honors.
Wade was born January 26, 1921 in Winston-Salem, the son of Walter Reade Johnson and Lou Millholland Johnson.
Wade was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp serving during WWII. He was also member of Lawndale Baptist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason. As a fisher of men, Wade served faithfully in the prison and Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge ministries and the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. Wade devoted the last thirty seven years of his life selflessly counseling and ministering to all he met.
In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his wife, Judith Mills Johnson; children, Joseph W. Johnson, Linda Foster and Diane Johnson, all of Greensboro; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Wade’s family will receive friends on Saturday, April 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
