James Stanley Fowler, age 65 was ushered into heaven on September 27, 2023. Stan unexpectedly and peacefully passed away in his sleep at his home in Summerfield with his wife Terri Fowler. Stan was born on December 12, 1957 at 12:02 am in Danville, Virginia the eldest of three children born to Frank M. Fowler, Jr and Nancye Gauldin Fowler. Stan made his way from Virginia to North Carolina in 1972 and made it his permanent residence.
A graduate of Ben L. Smith in Greensboro Stan retired in 2022 after a 40 year career in construction management of single family residences. Stan was a man of many talents and artistic abilities with a deep passion for fishing, knife making, fly tying, painting, drawing, carving, wood burning, collecting, embracing the great outdoors, scrimshaw, antique cars, and family. Stan may have had a rough looking exterior with his long and cherished beard but that paled in comparison to his enormous loving heart. He will always be remembered for the love and compassion that he had for others. Stan could always be counted on by his friends and family for love and support. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 35 years Terri Fowler of Summerfield, daughter, Amy Duggins and husband Allen Duggins of Reidsville, his granddaughters Cassidy Duggins and Leah Duggins also of Reidsville. His parents, Frank M. Fowler, Jr and mother Nancye Gauldin Fowler of Greensboro. His sister, Kymme Fowler Hoyle and husband David L. Hoyle of Greensboro and his brother David A. Fowler of Summerfield and his niece Sarah Fowler of Whitsett.
Stan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Frank M. Fowler, Sr. and Marion Osborne Fowler of Danville, Virginia, his maternal grandparents James Huey Gauldin and Mary Margarette Parker Gauldin of Danville, Virginia.
The family will gather for a visitation with family and friends on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Buchanan Baptist Church, 301 Buchanan Church Road, Greensboro, NC. The funeral will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm.
