Mrs. Jacqueline Walker Johnson, 85, a resident of Greensboro died Tuesday March 11, 2014 at Greensboro Place. Mrs. Johnson was born April 21, 1928 in Davidson County, the daughter of Garmond and Edith Owen Walker. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where she was the church organist for over 43 years.
Jacqueline enjoyed making and selling seashell crafts and giving them away to her family and friends. She was known as the “shell lady.”
Mrs. Johnson was married to Harold Ford Johnson, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son and daughter-in-law, Harold Ford Johnson, Jr. and wife Bell.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia J. Schmidt and husband Clifford of Greensboro; one sister, Carolyn W. Watson and husband Bertram of High Point; four grandchildren, Tracy Lacivita, Tobbie Lanning, Bonnie Johnson, Harold Ford Johnson, III and five great grandchildren, Anthony Lacivita, Nathan Lacivita, Luke Lacivita, Carrington Lanning and Charlee Lanning.
The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Mike Collins and the Reverend Bryan Fox, Jr.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Jacqueline’s memory to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, 4525 West Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409 or to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
