She was born in Guilford County, on May 30 1932, the youngest child of William Lindsay and Emma Lambeth Black.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Newell Guy Black, Clifford Farris Black, Carson Coe Black, Thurman Black, Gilbert Roscoe Black, William Lindsay Black Jr, James Dayton Black, Ralph Lincoln Black, Aubrey Leonard Black, her sister Dorothy Black Bowling, her son Melvin Thomas Ellis Jr, her husband Joseph Ira Watson and a son-in-law John Bryan Freeman.
She is survived by her son, Jeryl Ellis (Jean); daughters, Patricia Fitzgerald (Dan), Janice Freeman and Shirley Ellis; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, step-son Sam Watson (Amy); step-daughters, Beverly Varner and Linda Coble (Ronnie) and her constant furry companion Macie.
Helen retired from North State Telephone and acquired many good friendships from her time there.
A Crypt side service will be held on Tuesday, January 5th, 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. Please wear a mask as per covid guidelines.
