Born in Guilford County to the late Norman Day Thomas and Jessie Bell Thomas, Harry worked as an Insurance Agent for over 35 years until his battle with bladder cancer forced him into retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying time on his boat and spending time fishing at the beach. Harry was quite the gun collector, enjoyed browsing through yard sales, was somewhat of a BBQ connoisseur and seafood magician. His ability to repair and rebuild things preceded his reputation, not to mention the fact that he added an upstairs addition to the family home and remodeled the kitchen. He was a very hard worker, excellent husband, father and provider. When possible he loved to travel, and was fortunate enough to have been able to take cruises to Mexico, Puerto Rico and The Bahamas. More than anything though, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family, most especially his grandchildren, teaching them how to do things and trying to instill in them his gift of being thrifty. He made a new friend with every client he every assisted and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, April Thomas Jones, which he felt was something that a parent should never have to endure.
Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Janice Holden Thomas; daughter, Christie Thomas Bisbee; granddaughter, Sarah Spencer Bisbee; grandson, Anderson Alexander Bisbee; along with many extended family members and friends.
