Bill was born in Ellenboro, WV to Helen Wingrove Medcalf and H.W. Medcalf Sr. June 2, 1947.
Bill and his sisters, Nancy Kiefer of Mineral Wells, W.V. and Margaret Ann Scholl of Alva, Florida were brought up in Parkersburg, WV.
He attended WV Tech where he met his future wife and began his career in highway construction. His first job was working on the East River Mt. Tunnel. He then helped build the D.C. Metro and the Atlanta Marta before going west to Arkansas, Texas and Arizona for highway construction. Bill was Regional Vice President for APAC for many years and completed his career as President of Construction with Vecellio & Grogan, Inc. in Beckley, WV.
His special joys in life are his children Stacie Nichols (Chris) of High Point, NC, Piper Medcalf of Atlanta, GA and Matthew Medcalf (Janine) of Greensboro, NC. If you wanted to see his eyes light up, just mention his grandchildren - Benton Hunter Medcalf, Elijah William Medcalf, Jack David Nichols and Molly Elizabeth Nichols his pride and joy.
His favorite leisure activity was bare boating in the Caribbean with his wife and best friends from Arkansas
Bill was diagnosed with Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy five years ago which is a degenerative neurological disease.
Bill was a proud associate member of the First Presbyterian church of Bonita Springs, Fl. and a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church in Jamestown, N.C.
A Celebration of Life Service for Bill will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St. Jamestown, NC 27282 officiated by the Reverend Jim Watford and the Reverend Chris Thore.
