Gregory Dean Winfree

Born on November 28, 1960 in Greensboro, he was the son of the late Andrew Charles Winfree, Sr. and Betty Westmoreland Winfree. Dean never met a stranger, he loved meeting people and making lifelong friends. Dean retired from Elm Street Tire. He enjoyed working on and racing cars. He loved NASCAR and attending local races. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also enjoyed cooking/eating any kind of seafood, especially oysters. Dean was an animal lover, he especially loved his dogs. He was awarded “Man of the Year” by his Church in 2017 and loved being an active member at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Dean is preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Charles “Chuck” Winfree, Jr.

Dean is survived by his wife, Tammy Winfree; daughters, Andrea Winfree Matthews and husband Drew, Samantha Winfree, and Deana Winfree; sisters, Lu-Anne Winfree Deaton and husband Bobby and Terrye Winfree Hartnett and husband Mike; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm Street, Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3918 Baylor Street, Greensboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
