Grace Butler Shoemaker

Grace Virginia Shoemaker, 97, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Thursday February 27, 2025. She was born November 14, 1927 in Greensboro, the daughter of the late Guy Henry and Ora Virginia Work Butler.

She was a graduate of Greensboro High School (Grimsley High School) and was an assistant teacher for special needs students at McKeever School.

She was married to Neal Dennis Shoemaker who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Harry Shoemaker.

Surviving are her sons, James Thomas “Tom” Shoemaker (Sandy) of Kernersville, Richard “Dick” Neal Shoemaker (Kathy) of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Lynne Shoemaker, Todd Shoemaker (Melanie), Chase Shoemaker (Sydney), Blair Henn (Kyle), Rick Shoemaker (Tammy), Chris Shoemaker (Erin); great grandchildren, Drew Holt (Cheryl), Nolan Holt (Holly), Brandon Holt, Jacob Shoemaker, Riley Shoemaker, Nate Henn, Carson Henn, Marcus Shoemaker (Dakota), Zack Shoemaker, Madison Snavely (Conner), Gracie Shoemaker; great great grandchildren, Madelynn Holt, Kinsley Holt, Waylon Fletcher, Blakely Shoemaker, Rylie Shoemaker, Mazeleigh Snavely and a very special friend, Debbie Jarrett.

A Celebration of Life service for Grace will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 11, 2025 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel 6000 West Gate City Blvd. Greensboro, NC 27407 officiated by the Reverend Amy Kane. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
