Grace Gibson Gregg was born September 29, 1935 in the small town of Deville, Louisiana, to Albert Gibson, Sr. and Zennie Gibson. She was the middle child of two brothers, Albert Gibson, Jr. and Arnold Gibson. Growing up on a farm in rural Louisiana, Grace learned the value of family, hard work and perseverance. After graduating from Frostburg College with a Business degree, she went on to raise three adoring sons, Scott (Crash), Randall (Randy) and Eric, with her husband, Stewart Gregg. In 2014, Randall sadly passed away in a motorcycle accident and has been desperately missed by Grace and the entire family. Both Scott and Eric live in Raleigh.
Any conversation with Grace was quick to turn into a story about one of her sons, who were the great joy of her life. She was always there for her family with unwavering love and support. Such a strong woman, Grace overcame breast cancer as well as three previous strokes. Grace’s independence and self-reliance in the face of her health issues was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was happiest spending time with her family, tending to the vegetable plants in her garden, laughing at her cats and enjoying the outdoors.
Grace passed on peacefully Friday evening surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Arnold of Chicago, and her son Randall. She is survived by her brother Albert of Houston, her ex-husband Stewart, her sons Scott and Eric, and her grandson, Colton. Her love, her smile, and her warmth will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to know her and love her.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20th at 11:00am at Summerfield’s First Baptist Church, located at 2300 Scalesville Road, Summerfield, NC, 27358. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will be received following the service at the church.
