Gladys Durham Basham

Mrs. Gladys Lorinna Durham Basham, 89, a former resident of Groometown Road died Tuesday morning June 19, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Mrs. Basham was born May 31, 1923 in Rockingham Co., the daughter of Paul and Eva Carroll Durham. A homemaker, she attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Basham was married to Glenn Vernard Basham who preceded her in death on December 26, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia B. Kennedy and her brother, Irving Durham.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna B. Tate of Norfolk, VA, Darlene B. Massey and husband George of Greensboro, Diane B. Ammons of Jamestown; four sons, Glenn Wayne Basham and wife Margaret of Taylorsville, Dennis Basham and wife Tammy of Danville, VA, Danny Basham and wife Kathy of Greensboro, Johnny Basham and wife Leslie of Colfax; two sisters, Bettie D. Schoolfield of Greensboro, Carolyn D. Harnage and husband C.B. of Greensboro; 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 3812 Groometown Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 condcuted by the Reverend Mike Jones. Mrs. Basham will remain at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at other times at the home of her son, Danny Basham, 2401 Mowbray Trail, Greensboro, NC 27407.
