Our beloved father George Francis O’Leary passed away peacefully in his home on October 20th, 2023 at the age of 84. He is survived by brothers Ralph DeRose, Joseph DeRose and Kenneth Bigley, sisters Karen Barron and Katherine Barron and sisters-in-law Janet DeRose and Carol Bigley. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 29th, 1938. His childhood in Pittsburgh instilled in him a lifelong passion for conservative values and high integrity. He took so much joy in actively improving his local community by volunteering time, energy, and financial resources. He was also very outgoing, always encouraging others to laugh as he loved to. He leaves behind his children Gwendolyn O’Leary and Gretchen Sayyed and son-in-law, Rameez Sayyed. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Jovita Eileen O’Leary.
The funeral for George Francis O’Leary will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church at 2203 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27403 at 10am on Monday, October 30th, 2023. A visitation will be held at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 6000 W Gate City Blvd,Greensboro, NC 27407 from 5pm-7pm on Sunday, October 29th, 2023.
All friends and family are welcome to the funeral and visitation. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to one of Mr. O’Leary’s favorite organizations, which include the Greensboro, NC Symphony Orchestra and the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
