George D. Gardner

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral from 12:00 until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Born in Jamestown on February 22, 1935 to the late Austin Gardner and Thelma Gardner Jones, George was of the Methodist faith. He attended school in Jamestown and retired from J.P. Stevens as a warehouse supervisor. George enjoyed the simple things in life, like working in his yard and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lynda Hodgin Gardner; and a son, Gary Gardner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Cindy Gulledge (George) of Southport; sons, Sammy Gardner (Leigh Anne) of Greensboro, and Doug Gardner (Karen) of High Point; brother, Steve Jones (Helen) of Lakeland, FL; six grandchildren, Kristen, Lori, Mark, Gary P., Matthew, and Noah; and five great-grandchildren, Adria, Kaleigha, Enari, Brianna, and Mackenzie.
