Gene Aster Garrett

Gene Aster Garrett, 73, a resident of Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden passed away on Monday October 12, 2015. Gene was born October 1, 1942 in Guilford County the son of Guy Whitaker and Ada Mae Sluder Garrett.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joyce G. Haithcox and brother-in-law, Bobby Gray Whitaker.

He is survived by his sister, Diane G. Whitaker of Pleasant Garden; nieces, Tammy Walker and husband Jeff of Kernersville, Wendy Lemmond and husband Michael of Pleasant Garden, Penny Fountain and husband Dennis of Salisbury; great niece, Bobbi and great nephews, Jacob and Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend William Fields. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.

The family has requested that any memorials be made in Gene’s memory to the Activity Fund at Clapps Nursing Center, 5229 Appomattox Rd., Pleasant Garden, NC 27313.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Clapps Nursing Center for their love and care. To all of Gene’s many friends that we consider family, we say thank you for your love to him and sharing your time for so many years. He loved you all so much.
