He is survived by his sons, Boyd F. Barker and Joel M. Barker and spouse Sarah, granddaughter Alexus B. Nanny and spouse Austin, and great grandson James M. Nanney.
Born and raised in Greensboro, Gary was in the Grimsley class of 1964. On Halloween, 1966, Gary married his sweet heart and went on to raise their family.
Gary’s career was based on sales, ranging from chemicals to retail. He was very active in community service as a Greensboro Jaycee and the Greensboro Power Squadron.
Due to the pandemic, there will be a graveside service on Wednesday, January 19, at 1:00 pm at Westminster Gardens.
Because of Gary’s love of animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Guilford County Animal Shelter.
