Fred Richard Nuss, 82, left behind his earthly strife and entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 9, 2019 after an extended illness. Born in Danville, Pennsylvania, Dick was raised in Tower City, PA by mother Grace Boe Nuss and grandfather Joseph E. Boe. At a young age, Dick worked on a dairy farm and in a coal mine. After graduating from Tower City High School and Thaddeus Stevens State College, he was employed by AMP, Inc. as a tool and die maker. This work brought him to Winston-Salem, where he became a plant manager and soon met the love of his life, Pat, before relocating to Greensboro. Retiring from AMP after 40 years, Dick and Pat owned and operated a small sand casting foundry together. Dick was a cancer survivor for 30 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia Leigh Hartsook Nuss, who also served as Dick's caregiver for the last several years; sons Richard (Jamie) of Apex and Patryck of Kernersville; beloved granddaughters Ivy and Emily; sister Daisy DeCoudres of Virginia Beach; nieces and nephews Kirsten Nuss of Elizabethville, PA, Jim Miller of Virginia Beach, Murray Miller of Cologne, Germany, Kristi Rice of Shreveport, and Staci Fraser of Tampa; and dear relatives Judy Hartsook and Sandy Belcher of Burlington, Ron and Becky Hartsook of Tampa, and Russell and Mary McNeal of Greensboro.
A celebration of the resurrection to eternal life will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00PM at Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, 5220 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, with a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be directed to Lutheran Church of the Epiphany or to the charity of one's choosing.
