Frank DeMaggio, 76, a resident of High Point passed away unexpectedly on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020. He was born in Detroit, MI on September 22, 1943, the son of Joseph Jack and Lillian Virginia (Sagona) DeMaggio.
Frank served honorably with the United States Marine Corps in Bridgeport, CA at Mountain Warfare Training Center followed by a tour of duty in Vietnam stationed at Camp J.J. Carroll located south of the DMZ in Quang Tri province. He was proud of his service in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines, 3rd Marine Division, 12th Marine Regiment from 1965 through 1968.
Frank retired from the banking industry, having worked for Barnett Bank in Fort Lauderdale. When Barnett was bought out by NationsBank and then Bank of America, he and Claudia moved to North Carolina where they settled in High Point. At Bank of America, Frank was initiated into the Million Dollar Club of the Asset Recovery Department in 2000. After his retirement from banking he continued to work for various loan companies, but his favorite job was working for Electri-Products Group in Greensboro where he got to drive a forklift.
Frank enjoyed playing golf, especially on his trips to Ft. Myers, FL to play with Jim Krol, Denny Fedorinchik, and Jack Hahn. His also enjoyed playing golf locally with Pete Christensen and John Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Annette DeMaggio Ford.
Frank is survived by his wife, E. Claudia DeMaggio and his devoted puppygirl, Miss Molli Swan, of the home; two daughters, Dawn Marie DeMaggio Lemonds and husband Michael of Rockford, MI, Christina Ann DeMaggio Deguzman and husband Joseph of Berkley, MI; three sisters, JoAnne DeMaggio Sullivan and husband Terrance Wayne of West Bloomfield, MI, Joyce DeMaggio Makowski and husband Gary of Calabash, NC, Mary Jo DeMaggio McNair and husband Gerry of Calabash, NC and six grandchildren.
Frank would want to acknowledge his best friend in the world, Jim Whyte. They knew each other since they were six years old and they loved and tormented each other like brothers. He would also want to include his almost family neighbors, Craig, Tracy, Emily and Abby.
Frank was proud to attend St. Scholastica Elementary and Benedictine High School in Detroit, MI (Class of 1962- Go Ravens). Through the years, the classmates have remained extremely close and are almost family. They knew him the longest and they knew him the best.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frank’s memory to the Unites States Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Campaign (he would love that).
