Mrs. Minton was born November 21, 1932 in Chatham Co., the daughter of Harold and Ida Dorsett Hackney. She was a graduate of Silk Hope High School and attended Kings Business College. She was employed for 20 years as an Administrative Assistant with the UNC at Greensboro before retiring. Mrs. Minton was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
She was married to Sylvester Prince Minton who preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Stephen Edward Mitchell and a sister, Jean H. Burns.
Surviving is her son, Scott Mitchell of Greensboro; one sister, Rachel Hackney of Chapel Hill and two brothers, Jack Hackney and wife Anne of Graham and Joe Hackney and wife Betsy of Chapel Hill; niece, Susan Lecrone and nephews, Dan Hackney, Will Hackney and Michael Burns.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend J. Brent Thomas and Reverend Paul Doby, Jr. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
