Frances Lackey

Frances Sharpe Lackey, born September 28, 1934, in Guilford County, NC, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gary Lackey (d. 1999), and brother, James Edwards “Ed” Sharpe.

She is survived by her four children, Penny Lackey (Tim) Fortune, Paul (Shannon) Lackey, Michael (Teresa) Lackey, and Kenneth (Carina) Lackey; sisters Virginia Brueck, Elizabeth Carroll, and Vallie Milloway; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Frances was very passionate about her faith. She had a servant’s heart and helped so many through the ministries and missions she supported over the years.

As an active member of Maranatha Church, Frances started a ministry called “The Blessing Room” in the 1980s to meet the clothing needs of the church and the community. She was particularly fond of the time she spent working with youth, first with the Maranatha Church youth group and, later, with the OFY (On Fire Youth) ministry. Most recently, she felt very blessed to host a church group in her home.

Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She was a committed friend and constant help to those around her. Most importantly, she was a faithful servant of the Lord and has left an enduring imprint on the hearts of all who knew her.
