Verlena “Faye” Hyatt, 78, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Spring Arbor of Greensboro following a lengthy illness.

Faye was born August 18, 1936 in Fayetteville, NC, the only child of the late John Faye Hyatt and the late Jessie McCloud Hyatt, the family later moving to Marion, NC.
Faye was a graduate of Woman’s College (UNC-G) and became a school teacher at Joyner Middle School, military bases at Okinawa, Japan, and Aycock Junior High School. After earning her master’s degree in administration, she then became assistant principal at Alan Jay Middle School. Faye was involved in education for over 33 years. She especially enjoyed genealogy research, music, and traveled extensively.
Faye is survived by her longtime friends, Donna Pickerel and Mrs. Gladys Redner, both of Greensboro.
