Faye Joyce Braswell

Faye Joyce Braswell, 82, a resident of Greensboro NC passed away at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday April 26, 2022. She was born in Greensboro on June 22, 1939, to the late Percy and Daisy Bell Matier Gilmer.

She was a graduate of Dudley High School. Faye worked and retired from St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Staten Island, New York, after 45 years of service. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith and beloved by many.

She was married to the late James Charles Braswell Sr. Her son Wayne D. Gilmer, grandson Calvin Skky Green, and siblings; Percy Gilmer, Lawrence Gilmer, and William Gilmer preceded her in death.

She is survived by:

7 Children: Elaine Beye, Marvin Gilmer, Romona Braswell, Sharon Morris, James Charles Braswell Jr., Curtis Braswell Sr., and Lavonnia Braswell.

22 Grand Children: Rudolph Mckoy III, Dr. Diana Gilmer Echols, Tannesha Mckoy, Rashauna Braswell, Erica Morrow, Harold Green, Lamont Green, Demetrius Everett, Shaneeka Braswell, Shakerria Braswell, Christopher Melvin, Curtis Braswell Jr., Jessica Braswell, Keith Braswell, Delissea Braswell, Shanna Gilmer, Shate Carter, Dayquan Reel, Kareem Reel, Waliek Reel, Khadim Beye, and James Charles Braswell III.

37 Great Grand Children: Alaysia, Aijae, Ramell Jr., Exziar, Trinity, Calvin, Nahla, Harmony, Mikaela, Justin, Alaina, Terrell, Elijah, J’siah, Jayden, Jordan, Laureen, Laylaa, Mololuwa, Hezekiah, Keniah, Jayde, Malachi, Sa'Rae, Aryia, Sabian, Xavier, Isaiah, Saniyah’Lynn, Aaniyah’Lee, Laniyah’Ann Ziymera, Jasiah, A'laya, Zakiya, Naziah and Christopher Jr.

2 Great Great Grand Children: Kamdyn and Sofia.

3 Siblings: Lillie Gilmer, Patricia Gilmer, and Freddie Gilmer, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday May 5, 2022 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Elder Ronnie Dorn. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
