Eugene Decker, 75, a resident of Greensboro passed away at his home on Saturday morning July 4, 2015 after a period of declining health. Eugene was born March 2, 1940 in Grayson County Kentucky, the son of Simon and Rhoda Cook Decker.
He was retired from the Lorillard Tobacco Company after working there for 41 years. He was of Baptist faith. An old car buff, Eugene loved to work on and restore antique cars. Eugene also loved to fish and garden.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Maynard Decker of the home; sons, Marty Decker of Louisville, KY, Allen Decker of Siler City; daughters, Suzie Johnson of Dugway, UT, Sarah Tharp of Cox Creek, KY; step-son, Ronald Maynard, Sr. of Lenoir; two sisters, Elva and Sarah of KY and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Tony Thomas. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:30 until service time.
