Mrs. Emily Roberta Sills Aydelette, age 89 passed away on Monday July 6th, 2015 while surrounded by her loved ones. Emily will be rejoining her late husband Tom, who preceded her in death, for what would have been their 66th wedding anniversary on July 8th.
Honoring her wishes for a simple memorial, the family of Emily Aydelette has selected a close family member celebration of life set for a later date.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Sills of Greensboro, brother, Walter Harney Sills and wife Dorothy of Greensboro, and sister Nancy Sills Hunt of Hillsboro.
A caring and nurturing mother, Emily is survived by her children Geoffery Thomas Aydelette and wife Flora of Oriental, Lea Aydelette Schwartz and husband Bob of Scottsdale, AZ, James H. Aydelette Jr. and wife Janis of Douglasville, GA and Robert S. Aydelette Sr. and wife Susan of Greensboro. She is also survived by her niece Emily Hope Hunt of North Platte, NE, nephew Shelby Bateman of Greensboro and grandchildren Zach Aydelette, Rob Aydelette, Lauren Rowell, Jessica Schwartz, Katie Aydelette, Trey Aydelette and her nly great grandchild, Kristen Aydelette. She has numerous nieces and nephews of the Aydelette families who will miss her dearly.
Emily was born and raised n Greensboro, NC. She was a charismatic woman who charmed a room with her witty banter and grace. She loved playing bridge, anything French and the piano. She was an active member of the Sedgefield Womans Club, she created and ran her own interior design studio and she was also a landlord for rental properties for many years. Most importantly Emily was a caring, dedicated mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
The family wants to give special thanks to all of her caregivers that assisted during her decline over the past year. Their support was an added blessing not only to Emily’s life but to her family as well.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be directed to the American Red Cross or The Greensboro Beautiful Society in the name of Mr. & Mrs. James H. Aydelette.
