Elsie Melvina Capps Brown, 87, a resident of Randleman died Wednesday at her residence. She was born May 22, 1925 in Greensboro the daughter of Herman and Lucy Bell Capps. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and owned and operated Brown’s Bookkeeping Service until she retired. Elsie was a member of the Gateway Civitans. A birthright Quaker, she was an active member of Spring Garden Friends Meeting.
Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda Bennett and a son, David “PeeWee” Brown, III.
Surviving are three daughters, Gail Burnett and husband Woodrow of Stokesdale, Linda Brown of Crestview, FL, Lorena Brown of Randleman; two sons, Terry Bennett of Pleasant Garden, Allan Brown of Pleasant Garden; eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery conducted by Reverend Kevin Bauswell and Reverend Ben Hurley. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
A Celebration of Life Service for Elsie will be held Sunday December 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Spring Garden Friends Meeting House conducted by Reverend Kevin Bauswell and Reverend Ben Hurley. A reception and receiving of friends will be at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
