Ellen S. Patterson

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends and loved ones the night before from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest beside her husband immediately following the funeral services in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born in Mecklenburg, County on April 24, 1941 to the late Harry and Edith Severs, Ellen was of the Baptist faith and attended Rolling Roads Baptist Church in Greensboro. She was a registered nurse and worked for Wesley Long Hospital for 20 years. Ellen enjoyed crafts, bird watching, ordering from Amazon and loved her family passionately. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. Ellen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard Milton Patterson, Sr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard Milton Patterson, Jr., (Wanda Davis Patterson) of Greensboro; sister, Harriet Showalter of Virginia; grandsons, Zachary James Patterson and Daniel Lewis Patterson (Courtney); great-grandchildren, Zachary Lee Patterson, Kylie Jean Patterson, Alyssa Marie Patterson and Lucas Isaiah Patterson; and other extended family and friends.
