Edward White entered this life January 22, 1945, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late James White and Hattie Lou English-White.
A Time to Live
Edward received his formal education at Finklea High School. Those who new him well called him Curly. After graduation, he joined the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army from 1963-1966. Upon leaving the military, Edward went to New York City wither he attended Albert Merrill Institute. He became known to his friends there as Eduardo El Blanco. He worked in the retail industry for several years, managing the business. After retail he worked in the finance industry at First Card for over 20 years. Upon his retirement in 1996, he moved to Columbia, SC to begin his lifelong dream as a business owner, managing Parklane package store. In 2012, he left the business world and moved to Greensboro, NC until he entered eternal rest. He loved his girls dearly and ruled his home with strong convictions and many restrictions. Edward was very opinionated and you could always count on him to give his opinion whether you asked for it or not.
A Time to Love
It was in New York where Edward met and married Isabella Banks. From this union, they were blessed with one daughter Yolanda Denise. Edward and Isabella divorced.
More Time to Love
In 1970, Edward fell in love with (the late) Beverly Harrison, and from this union, they were blessed with two daughters; Dayziner Nicole and Regina Renee.
A Time to Return to Our Savior
Edward was called to eternal rest on December 9, 2016 at his home in Greensboro, NC. He fought a good fight, but the Lord wanted him home. He battled several health issues for as long as he could.
A Time to Mourn
Edward leaves to cherish his memory his three children; Yolanda White-Miller (David) of Atlanta, GA, Dayziner Whitehurst (Brad) of Atlanta, GA and Regina Bright (Alton-deceased) of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Tionnie, DeAndre, Alton, Jasmine, and Anaia; four great grandchildren; Dazyion, Ryan JR., Aryah, and Zaniya; six brothers, Zack of Orange, NJ, James Jr.(Becky) of Louisville, KY, Walter (Kathy) of Indianapolis, IN, Curtis (Eartha) of Seneca, SC, Andrew of Tabor City, NC and Michael (Renee) of Sanford, FL; eight sisters, Thelma Stark (Joe-deceased) of Bronx, NY, Shirley Scott (James) of Atlanta, Ga, Deloris Jordon of Loris, SC, Marjorie of Columbia, SC, Lou B. Stewart of Columbia, SC, Arnetha of Loris, SC, Patricia of Loris, SC and Wanda of Charleston, SC; one brother-in-law, James Teague of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his lifelong partner, Beverly; sisters, A. Pearl and Charvella Marie and his parents, James and Hattie Lou White.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 2:00 pm at Greater First United Baptist Church in High Point. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. The Burial will be at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC on Monday, Dec. 19th at 12:00 noon with full military honors.
