Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Phyllis Coates officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Edna was born on October 15, 1931 in Asheville, NC. She moved to Greensboro in the 1960’s, working at various companies in the area. After eventually retiring from Moses Cone Hospital Dietary Department, she returned to work part time at Sears for several years. She was a long time member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and had been active as a member of the women’s circle. Edna was an expert seamstress, an avid reader, and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, C. Richard Smith;her parents James Wallace and Euclaire Reister Williamson; her loving Aunt, Ruby Reister; and her brother, James Wallace Williamson, Jr.. Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons, Ric Walker (wife Trainey ) of Charlotte, Mike Walker, and David Arrington of Winston-Salem; and one daughter, Margo LaFever (husband Brent) of Winston-Salem, as well as four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to especially thank both the staff of the Memory Garden at Carillon Assisted Living of Clemmons, and Hospice & Palliative Care of Winston-Salem for the guidance, support, and professional, loving care they have so willingly provided through Edna’s illness.
