Doug never met a stranger and when he walked into a room laughter would always follow.
Doug is survived by his mom, Arline Aalfs (husband Dennis, deceased), dad, Chuck Earley (wife Becky) and daughter, Aspen Earley. He is also survived by siblings: Sally Thompson (husband Pat), Susie Guhne (husband Gene), Chip Earley and Shannon Earley. Doug was an amazing “Uncle C” to Ryan Guhne, Philip Mericle, Kristine Hammer (husband Will), Jennifer Mericle and Matthew Guhne. He is also survived by his girlfriend and partner in life, Stephanie Hays.
Doug graduated from Shelby High School where he excelled in tennis, swimming and football. He then attended NC State before beginning a 30-year career with Southern Lithoplate in Wake Forest, NC.
