Douglas “Doug” Graham Wright, 80, went to his heavenly home Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Family visitation will be held Monday, September 12 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd. (formally High Point Road), Greensboro, NC. A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 1804 Guilford College Road, Jamestown, NC. Rev. Dr. Jay Smith, Rev. Newton Cowan and Dr. Vernon Farrington will preside. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC with Masonic Rites. Doug was born on May 17,1942 in Greensboro, NC. The loving son of the late Robert Reade Wright and Grace Swiggett Wright. He was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, NC. Doug was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Greensboro Senior High School. Doug earned a BA in History and Philosophy from Guilford College in 1966. Then he went to work at Pilot Life Insurance Co. and Prudential Insurance Co. in the Medicare Division. As he advanced in his career, he became a highly respected Special Agent with the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (HHS). In 1989, he was awarded the Inspector General’s Bronze Medal for Outstanding Employee of the Year. Doug followed in the footsteps of his father and studied to become a Past Master with Greensboro Lodge 76 AF&AM. He was a member of Wilkerson College Lodge #760 AF&AM, Royal Order of Scotland, Greensboro York Rite Bodies, KCH of Greensboro Valley Scottish Rite and Nelms No Lodge 323 F. A.M., Smyrna, GA. He was a loving and dedicated husband to Anne Bilbro Wright for over 57 years. Left to cherish his memories is his nephew, Dennis Lee Fortune, Jr. (Diann), great nephews, Nicholas Fortune and Zachery Jillani. He also leaves behind a multitude of Bilbro nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, God Daughter, Denise Clayton Kiser, cousins and very special and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Wright Fortune (Dennis Lee Fortune, Sr.), niece, Susan Fortune Long and great-niece, Sarah Ann Fortune. We extend a heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital along with Dr. Daniel Paterson with Guilford Medical Associates.
