Dorothy June Harris

Dorothy June Harris, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on August 22, 1933, in Stirrat, WVA, the daughter of William and Kyliste Yates Easterling Jr. Dorothy served her country in the US Air Force serving from 1952 to 1955. She attended Christ the King Catholic Church.

Dorothy worked as a secretary/bookkeeper with Herman Shavitz Reality and then serving in the same position with Vocational Rehab. She loved to be outdoors, working in her yard, her flowers, walking and spending time with her family. She was lovingly known as Grandma June to her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Willie “Ted” Harris on October 21, 2001; son, Stephen Scott Harris on November 20, 2003 and brother, Harold Easterling and sister, Betty Bocock. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children; Teresa H. Hembree and husband Ricky of Archdale, NC; Bryan E. Harris and Thina Bernstein of Jamestown, NC and Drew Harris and wife Susie of Thomasville, NC; three brothers, Jack Easterling of Bluefield, WVA, Jim Easterling of Columbus, OH and Tom Easterling and wife Karen of Baltimore, OH: grandchildren, Amber N. Harris, Stephanie B. Hembree, Patricia K. Harris, Derrick A. Hembree and wife Crystal , Richard “Matt” Hembree and Preston “P.K.” Hembree and Harley Allen Harris; great grandchildren, Taylor Hembree, Zoie Hembree and Avery White and special friends, Jessica and Alexis Bernstein.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with entombment with full military honors at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
