Doris Aldridge Kirkman, 92, passed away on October 28, 2015 after years of declining health. A service to celebrate her life will be at 1 PM, today, October 30 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory chapel with Reverend Scott Orr officiating.
Doris will be remembered as a woman who loved God and her family. She has been a member of Lindley Park Baptist Church since 1964 and demonstrated her faith through her kind works and words. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was considered “Granny” to just about everyone. She was a talented seamstress and worked for Blue Bell, Bates Nightwear and Guilford Mills. Doris loved to share her fond memories of Eliada Home for Children, where she spent her childhood, learned the value of hard work, and the importance of the honorable qualities by which she lived her life. She was married to Alvis London Kirkman for 34 years prior to his death.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Devon (Jim) Yow, Patti Parker and Brenda Templeton all of Greensboro; grandsons, Charles London Gundaker (April) of Trinity, Jason Matthew Gundaker (Libbi) of Greensboro, Daniel Christopher Templeton (Allison) of Charlotte, and Dillon Parker (Brittney) of Greensboro; and six great grandchildren, Caleb, Emerysn, Nolan and Matthew Gundaker and Kailey and Zoey Parker. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Paul Wilson.
