A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 21, 2012 at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
Doris was born on February 6, 1930 to Vera Mae Clark & Loren Weaver Dunton in Fremont, Nebraska
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Charles T. Benbow, Jr. and eldest son, Charles T Benbow, III (Chuck)
She is survived by her other sons, Steven M. Benbow (Dawn), Wesley C. Benbow (Lisa) and daughter Cynthia B. Boehling, her grandchildren, Linda Stratton (Ryan), Steven Michael Benbow, Brandon Neil Benbow and Crystal Virginia Boehling. Great-grandchildren, Danielle Alexis Dalton and Abigail Mackenzie Stratton, her sisters, Iantha Dunton Baker of VA and Joanne Dunton of FL, a special Niece, Ann Eldreth (Carroll) as well as host of loving friends.
Doris moved to Miami FL as a child and graduated from high school there. She attended Stetson University and graduated from Phillips University.
Doris’s greatest love was her family. She especially delighted in her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She and her husband will long be remembered for introducing so many to their love of skiing and for their years of dedicated service to the National Ski Patrol. She also enjoyed smocking, hand sewing, doll making and learning new handicrafts.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 20, 2012 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel from 6 to 8 pm.
The family would like to say thank you to the Bayada nurses for their years of care and a special thank you to Debbi Gardner of Hospice for her support, encouragement and dedication in aiding our mother.
