Don was born the son of Ella Mae Clampett and Carl Roberts in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Don enlisted into the United States Air Force in July of 1954, and served during the Korean War. Don was a lifetime member of the disabled American Veterans. After serving, he attended Lenoir Rhyne College and was a part of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. While attending college he was involved in cheerleading and gymnastics. He went on to work for Holiday Magic and then pursued his lifelong career in insurance sales.
Don loved playing cards, dancing, cooking and gardening. He also loved the old T.V. shows Bonanza, M.A.S.H., Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith and Sunday afternoons watching the Panthers play. Another favorite pastime was sitting on the patio watching the birds… loved the hummingbirds.
Don leaves behind his loving daughter and caregiver Deborah Flannagan and grandson Justin Flannagan (Kendall – spouse), great grandchildren Mason, Lincoln and Mackenzie. Daughter Donna Gainous and granddaughter Ashley James (Jonathan – spouse), great grandson Grayson. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Carl Roberts Jr. and granddaughter Danielle’ Knichole Roberts.
Special thank you to the wonderful staff at Comfort Keepers, their staff was truly wonderful with my dad and loved him so.

Visitation will be Thursday November 18, 2021 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Advantage Funeral Home, 1900 Vanstory Street, Greensboro, NC. There will be a graveside service on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:30 am at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
