David Hoyt Whittle, 64, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Friday September 18, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. He was born January 19, 1956 in Caldwell County, the son of the late James E. and Clara Brackett Whittle. David was also preceded in death by his step-father; Wallace Vaughn.
He was a graduate of Grimsley High School and attended Guilford College. He was a member of Lindley Park Baptist Church. David was active in his community and was a public servant.
David is survived by his wife, Jane Vanstory Whittle of the home; his daughter, Jennifer Whittle Petersen and husband Erik of Cary; his son, Kirk J. Whittle and his wife Miranda of Greensboro and his brother, James Richard “Rick” Whittle and his wife Faye of Chevy Chase, MD.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Lindley Park Baptist Church, 4010 Walker Ave. Greensboro, NC 27403, conducted by the Reverend Patrick Cardwell and the Reverend Rickey Letson. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in David’s memory to Lindley Park Baptist Church.
