David Elbert Parrish Sr.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Elbert was born November 30, 1932 in Greensboro where he lived all of his life. He graduated in 1952 from Greensboro Senior High School. He worked as a draftsman for 45 years at Carolina Steel and Williams Steel. His parents were Lonnie William and Lillie Gilmer Chrismon Parrish. Elbert married Betty Jo Truitt on January 23, 1960. He was a member of Spring Garden and Battle Forest Friends Meeting.

Elbert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lonnie William Parrish Jr. and George Chrismon Parrish; sisters Melva Jeanette Parrish and Dorothy Virginia Parrish Friddle.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Jo Truitt; sons, David Elbert Jr. and Joseph Alan Parrish Sr and wife Hazel McCollum Parrish.; daughter Christy Elizabeth Parrish of Lewisville, TX; twin brother, Delbert Monroe Parrish, Sr. and many nephews and nieces. He was also a dedicated grandfather of two, Krystal Ann Parrish of Charleston, SC and Joseph Alan Parrish Jr. of Greensboro, NC.

He was a dedicated father and husband who always put his family above himself. He will be greatly missed.
