David was born on January 8th, 1930, in Akron, Ohio to Leasure and Lillie Hess Maple.
David graduated from Pennsboro High School. On June 16th, 1951, David married his beloved Wife, Kathleen, where they had two beautiful Children, David and Lu Ann. In January of 1973, David and his family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina. David entered the Trucking industry in 1959 with the purchase of three dump trucks. He continued in the trucking industry until 1990 and was the founder of Lee Trailers in 1989 along with his Son, David Maple II. David was a faithful member of Shinning Light Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. David enjoyed doing his own Auto repairs, Antique Tractors, and Nascar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Edward “Eddy” Merritt.
Surviving is his wife, Kathleen Alcorn Maple of the home; his daughter, Lu Ann Maple Sexton (David); his son, David Lee Maple II, grandchildren, Jamie Lee Hensley (Shan), Dallas Gibson, Mitchel Sexton (Lacey), Kathleen Hunt (Bradley), and his great grandchildren, Lilly Hunt, Kenzie Hunt-Livengood, and soon to be born, baby Sexton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday October 28, 2024, at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday starting at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
