A memorial service will be held at 11am on December 30, 2023 at Lutheran Church of our Father. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
Dave was born June 2, 1930 in Swanage, Dorset, England, the son of Howard Archibald Sutton Clark and Nora Julia Bastable Clark.
Dave travelled the world by sea. His career brought him to live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, then to Winston-Salem and Greensboro, NC. He worked for Lucent Technology and his crowning achievement there was being Engineer-in-Charge of laying transoceanic cable for the previously classified SOSUS system. Throughout his life, Dave was always redesigning and drawing plans for the houses he lived in. In many cases, Dave personally completed the renovation work himself. He was a gifted woodworker and could often be found in his workshop creating cabinetry, molding, and trim for his home.
Dave most enjoyed spending time with his family. He took his family overseas to visit his hometown as well as other locations. He enjoyed large family gatherings at the beach, and he celebrated holidays with fun and laughter.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his former wife, Rosli Specker Clark and his brother, John Clark.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Susan Wilson; children, Anita Clark-Anderson (Earl) and Michelle Wilson (Benjamin) all of Winston-Salem, Tim Clark (Bonnie) of Long Beach, CA and Christine Korkalo (Chris) of Virginia Beach, VA; step-children, Anne Lokken (Chris) of Chicago, IL and Bill Wilson (Paula) of Saint Paul, MN; and his grandchildren who knew Dave as Papa C, Sophie Anderson, Olivia Wilson, Isabel Barr, Rosalie Wilson, Everett and Delaney Clark, Nora and Lila Korkalo, Henry, Miles and Claire Lokken, Audrey, Fletcher and Ida Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Dave’s name be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Father Food Pantry, 3304 Groometown Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 and to the Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27406.
