Danny Joe Shelton

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Brown Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. also at Brown Wesleyan Church.

Danny was a native of Guilford County and the son of Jesse B. and Valleva Huffman Shelton. He was an avid hunter and skilled sportsman with the Longbow and rifle and served as 2012 president of the Alamance Long Rifles, former president of the Piedmont Chapter of Quail Unlimited, former member of the Guilford Long Bow Archery Association , and Sissipahaw Traditional Archers of Burlington as well as an archery instructor of Shades of Sherwood.

He was employed with Food Lion as the District Produce Lead and Trainer.

Surviving him are his wife of 37years, Sheila Barger Shelton; his parents Valleva Huffman and Jesse B. Shelton; brother Douglas Shelton (Debbie); half-brothers, Dolan Shaver (Janice) and Jesse Shelton, Jr. (Susie); father-in-law, John Barger; brother-in-law David Barger (Martha Stewart Barger); Nephews, Ronald Shaver (Anita), Jeffrey Shaver (Teresa), Richard Shaver (Nancy), Kyle Stewart Barger, Jesse Berman Shelton, III (Kristy); Nieces, Kendal Stewart Barger and Rebecca Shelton Davis (David). Other family members are great nephews, Addison Shaver, Nathan Shelton, Cole Davis and Reid Davis; great nieces Emme Shaver, Natalie Shaver.

Danny was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary Rumley and John Arnold Huffman; and paternal grandparents, Ora Braskie and James Jethro Shelton.
