Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” Seaberg Butner, 70, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 20 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 7, 1950 in Waynesburg, PA to the late Alvin Eugene Seaberg, Sr. and Sofia Nowakowski Seaberg.
After moving to Greensboro, NC, and graduating from Page High School, she graduated from Mars Hill College with a degree in Elementary Education in 1972. Cindy then taught at Sedalia Elementary School and St. Pius X School. Cindy dedicated extensive hours serving others as a volunteer chaplain at Moses Cone Hospital. She also served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and member of the Outreach Committee at St. Francis Episcopal Church. She supported the MS Society, Children’s Home Society, and Sanctuary House. Cindy was an amazing caregiver to her late husband, Jim. They loved to go to Blowing Rock, NC to get away. Cindy and Jim had a once in a lifetime love. After 5 years and 4 months, she was reunited in Heaven with the love of her life. Cindy was very compassionate and is remembered by her kind smile, eternal optimism, and contagious personality. She loved spending time with her family and friends and her beloved Yorkie Skye. She enjoyed knitting, reading, yoga, walking Skye, attending her book clubs and knitting groups. She cherished spending time with her dearest friends.
Cindy is preceded in death by her husband Jim, father Alvin, and mother Sofia. Cindy is survived by her daughters Emily and Beth; grandchildren Joseph, Olivia, Jacob, and Aiden; sons-in-law Bryan and RJ, all of Greensboro; and brother Gene and his wife Ann of Angier, NC.
A private burial will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 3506 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro, NC. A public reception will be held in the church courtyard on Friday, June 4 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Sanctuary House, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Children’s Home Society or charity of the donor’s choice.
