She was a lifelong resident of Guilford County. She started to Guilford School as soon as it opened. Before Guilford was built, she attended school at Hickory Grove. She attended Hickory Grove Church all her life. She loved her church and the many friends she had there. She loved her Friendship Sunday School Class and the monthly JOY Club lunches, programs and trips.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur Eugene Lewis and Pearl Welborn Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee Inman, who died on Oct.16, 2002. She buried her precious Charlie on their sixty-seventh anniversary, Oct. 19, 2002. They had worked together on their farm all those years. Connie was raised on a farm and they loved working together. They had acres of gardens every year, and she loved canning and freezing her fruits and vegetables. She loved to sew and do crafts and have flowers, especially her big Pansy bed every year.
She was also preceded in death by her only sister, Mary Lewis Burton; her brothers, Hugh Lewis, Brady Lewis, Clarence Lewis and Alton Lewis. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Norma Inman Hedrick (Bill) of Orlando, FL; son, Larry Inman (Barbara) of Randleman, NC; grandson, Michael Hedrick (Lynda) of FL; granddaughter, Lynne Borton (Todd) of KS and great granddaughter Danielle Bishop of KS; great grandsons, Luke and Craig Borton of KS, and Chris Hedrick and James Hedrick of FL; one niece, Betty Jo Tate of Winston Salem; nephews Charles Borton and Gene Lewis of High Point and Bill Lewis of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews and lots of friends and neighbors.
She said many times she had had a good life and was ready for her heavenly home. She will be missed, but we know she finally got to “Fly Away” to be with her precious Charlie and all her family and friends who were waiting for her.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, Mar. 13, 2:00 pm at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Lauren Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside in the church fellowship hall.
