Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.
She was born in Asheboro, NC on April 15, 1926 but lived most of her life in Greensboro, NC. Marie graduated from Grimsley High School. She enjoyed traveling, caring for her horses, and was a devoted homemaker. She was a dedicated charter member of Merritt Drive Church of God. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, L.K. Dodd; her son, Gregory Dodd; son-in-law, Jack Horne; her parents, Clarence and Josephine Langley; and her sister, Viviane Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donna Horne; three granddaughters, Melanie Blair (Jon), Kelly Moye (Will) and Julie Henry (Jake); six great-grandchildren, Maddie and Joshua Blair, Jacob and Jack Henry, and Parker and Ella Grace Moye.
