Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro. John will be laid to rest next to his wife, Connie, at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 am at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Born in South Korea on August 1, 1934 to the late Ikhae Kim and Ul Park, John was a successful entrepreneur. He received his bachelors degree from the University of Kentucky and worked as an Engineer in Telecommunications for 50 years, retiring from Lucent, previously AT&T. John was an avid golfer and a true outdoorsman. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Connie D. Kim; a great-granddaughter, Madeleine Amaya Fichack; and a great-grandson, Nicolas “Nico” Kyu Fichack.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Carla McGlynn (Tom), Terri Franklin (Brad) and John Kim (Samantha); brother, Chong “Tom” Hoon Kim; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
