A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, located at 515 N. Elm St., in Greensboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Charlie worked with Southern Railways for 32 years where he cherished the friendships of many friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Curtis Simmons and Edna Page Simmons, and a brother Ronnie Simmons.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Martha “Marty”; son, Darrin and wife Michelle; daughter, April Cook and husband Michael; brother Mike; grandchildren, Michael “Dallas” and Austin Simmons Cook, Riley Jade and Shane Patrick Simmons; and other extended family and friends which Charlie held very close to his heart.
