Charles was born in Greensboro on Nov, 26, 1943, the son of Charles F. and Bernice Hines Phillips. He served his country in the US Air Force. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars and retired with 21 years of service. After his military career, he worked with the US Postal Service until his retirement.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park with full military rites.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carrie Ann Phillips Eldridge of New Hampshire; brother, W.L. Phillips and wife Christine of Jamestown, NC; nieces; Mildred Redeker of Jamestown, NC, Teresa Tingler of Greensboro, NC and Dianna Brandl of Manitowoc, WI; nephews; Paul Fletcher Phillips of Stokes County, NC, Robert Wesley Phillips of Jamestown, NC and aunt Shirley Hines of Greensboro, NC; great nieces, Kristina, Christine, Brittany, Angela, Amber and Arianna; great nephews, Alec, Wayne, Thomas and Caleb and cousins, Cindy and Donnie Dillon.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
