Charles Henry Farthing, 95, a resident of Greensboro passed away at Moses Cone Hospital on Thursday, April 13, 2023. He was born March 27, 1928 in Dry Fork, Virginia, the son of Ira Thomas and Lillie Mae Pillow Farthing.
Charles was retired from Guilford Dairy/Flavor-Rich Dairy where he was a mechanic for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Charles was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church, but prior to that was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Beulah Mae Morgan, Sherry Levan; brothers, Rudy Clay Farthing, Aubrey Farthing and sisters Susie F. Atkins and Coleen F. Ricketts.
Charles is survived by his wife, Doris Kivett Farthing of the home; daughters, Lisa Hawkins (Bryan) of Greensboro, Sandra Huffine of Colfax; sons, Eric Cable of McLeansville, Ralph Farthing (June) of Greensboro, E.C. Farthing (Lucille) of High Point; sisters, Yvonne F. Gunnell of Danville, VA, Nora F. Hawker of Keeling, VA, Charlotte F. Swinney of Axton, VA; brothers, Dan Farthing of Danville, VA, Howard Farthing of Colonial Heights, VA and grandchildren, Richard Farthing, Carolyn Farthing, Michael Morgan, Charlie Morgan,Ronald Huffine, Brandon Huffine, Erin Cable and Ian Cable.
Graveside service with Military Honors accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Guilford Memorial Park officiated by the Reverend Gene Lawhorne and the Reverend Donnie Phillips.
The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Saturday from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
